Provo Power customers can receive rebates for adding insulation to their attic/ceiling and outside walls. Rebates are also available for upgrading outside windows and central air conditioning units. In each case, the upgrade needs to meet particular energy standards, as described below. It’s a great way to give your home the energy upgrades it needs to keep you warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer—and get cash back for doing it. You must have a central air conditioner to qualify for the listed rebates.

3. Central air conditioning equipment must match the calculated cooling level load of the residence where it is installed. Frequently Asked Questions about Weatherization Rebates

Q: Are the rebates offered to commercial customers?

A: No. Provo City Power has chosen to incentivize only residential customers. The costs associated with a commercial incentive/rebate program would be astronomical in proportion with what is being allocated in the annual budget for residential customers. Unfortunately to offer commercial incentives it would most likely mean a rate increase to all customers to subsidize that cost.

Q: Can I install insulation, windows or an air conditioning unit myself and get the rebates?

A: No. To qualify for the rebates, you must use an approved, licensed contractor.

Q: My home uses only electric heat. Are the rebates the same for me?

A: If your home uses ONLY electric heat, you will receive double the rebate amount for installing attic/ceiling insulation and/or wall insulation. Rebates for window replacement or air conditioning unit replacement remain the same as shown in the chart above.

Q: How long after I have the weatherization work performed must I submit the application in order to get the rebates?

A: You must submit the completed application with all associated documentation within 90 days of having the work performed. You can submit the application and documentation in person, by mail, or by fax to Provo City Power, 251 West 800 North, Provo, UT 84601; Fax: 801-852-6964.

Q: Can I request rebates for insulation upgrades, window replacement AND central air conditioning unit upgrades? Can I add some insulation now, get a rebate, and add more later?

A: You're welcome to participate in all of the rebate programs, as long as you make the required upgrades and submit the proper documentation. Once you've insulated your home to reach the maximum target energy rating, you can't receive additional rebates for installing additional insulation. Once the program funds have been depleted, the program will be discontinued.

Q: Are there conditions, terms or restrictions?

A: Yes. Before participating in the program you should read all of the terms and conditions

Q: How do I get started?

A: Decide which rebate programs you'd like to participate in, and contact one or more of the for a bid for the desired services. After you make your decision, engage the contractor and do the work. After the work is completed, complete and submit an application form, downloadable from this page, with the required documentation, within 90 days.
